The opening reception is Friday, October 2, 5:30-8:00 PM.  The Center is located at 4848 Main Street in Houston.  The exhibit will be up through December 24th.  AFA is well represented yet again.

AFA: If you could collect one living artist’s/artisan’s work, whose would it be?

DS: Right now, I’’m very enamored with David Driskell.  I think I could look at his work all day and never tire of it.  As a contemporary artist, he deals with nature and culture, and is an accomplished painter and printmaker.  His vibrant abstract images are like layers of meaning to be explored and he depicts themes of spirituality, family and politics from the African and African-American perspective.  For me, looking at his work is akin to reading a well-written novel.
