And this is the part most people miss... the story behind the young actors who bring these shows to life. Addie, who has previously performed in Syracuse as part of the "Annie" touring cast, shares her insights into the world of touring child actors.

Q: How did you discover your passion for musical theater?
A: It all started when I was just eight years old. My first taste of theater was in a school production of "Seussical," where I played the baby elephant bird. It was a magical experience, and my love for musical theater grew from there. My dad, who also had a background in theater, played a significant role in nurturing my interest.

Q: Have you faced any challenges, and how do you deal with them?
A: One of my most memorable and nerve-wracking experiences was playing Annie in a regional theater production. I felt a tremendous responsibility to deliver a stellar performance and ensure the audience loved it. Looking back, I realize that I should have embraced every moment and not been so hard on myself. After all, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be that age and perform such a beloved role.

Q: How do you prepare for your role as Amaryllis?
A: Playing an 8-year-old character while being 13 myself requires some unique preparation. I have to adopt a baby-ish voice and tone, which can be challenging. I also go through vocal exercises and warm-ups, and I've even learned to play the piano for my role, even though it's not required. I want the audience to believe that I'm truly playing, and it adds a layer of realism to my performance.

Q: What's it like being part of a touring cast?
A: Touring is an incredible experience, but it comes with its own set of challenges. We have to balance our performances with our education, ensuring we meet our weekly school hours. We have a fantastic tutor, Miss Kate, who travels with us and helps us stay on track. The cast and crew are like family, and we support each other through the ups and downs of life on the road.

Q: Any final thoughts for our Syracuse audience?
A: I'm thrilled to be back in Syracuse, a city I hold dear to my heart. The cold and snow don't bother me; I embrace it! I can't wait to perform for you all and create new memories. See you at the Landmark Theatre!
