Sebastian Stan Teases Character Deaths in Avengers: Doomsday; Jeremy Renner Shares Hawkeye Season 2 Update
Sebastian Stan, discussing the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday, hints at potential character deaths, leaving fans on the edge of their seats. Jeremy Renner, on the other hand, offers a positive update on Hawkeye's future.
Avengers: Doomsday, set for release in December 2026, promises to be a blockbuster, bringing together the Avengers, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, and X-Men. The film's ensemble cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, and Robert Downey Jr., among others.
Bucky Barnes, played by Sebastian Stan, leads the MCU's New Avengers alongside Yelena Belova, much to the disappointment of Sam Wilson. Rumors circulate about Stan potentially donning the Captain America suit in Avengers: Doomsday, but the actor remains tight-lipped during his appearance at the Tokyo Comic-Con.
'I don't know if I can say much about that,' Stan said. 'I don't know what's going to happen. We'll see who makes it or who doesn't. I think the most exciting thing is Robert Downey Jr., one of the greatest, coming back. He's definitely going to have something in store for everybody.'
Fans speculate that Stan's comments hint at significant character deaths, especially if Avengers: Doomsday concludes with an Incursion, as seen in 2015's Secret Wars, where only a few heroes and villains survived.
During the panel, Stan also reflected on his experience in Thunderbolts*, praising the cast and crew, including David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Florence Pugh. He expressed enthusiasm for a sequel, inviting fans to support the project.
Meanwhile, Jeremy Renner, in a recent podcast appearance, reminisced about his role as Clint Barton in Hawkeye (2021), highlighting the series' intimate family dynamic and Clint's human side. Renner confirmed positive developments for Hawkeye Season 2, despite initial setbacks.
'We were trying to do a second season,' Renner said. 'I think I will get strong enough to be able to do it. We will work it out. It’s going to be great.'
Avengers: Doomsday is directed by the Russo Brothers and features a screenplay by Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron. The film's release date is set for December 18, 2026, with Avengers: Secret Wars following on December 17, 2027.
