The race for electric vehicle (EV) supremacy just got a new contender! BYD's Denza Z9 GT has been updated with an astonishing range, making it a game-changer in the world of sustainable transportation. But is it too good to be true?
BYD proudly announces that their Denza Z9 GT is the world's longest-range pure electric vehicle, boasting an impressive CLTC range of up to 1,036 km. This is achieved with a massive 122.496 kWh Blade battery pack, which is a significant upgrade. And here's where it gets intriguing: BYD also has the Denza Z9 BEV, which has a slightly longer range of 1,068 km, according to Chinese MIIT filings. So, why isn't this model making the headlines? That's a question that has the EV community buzzing.
The updated Denza Z9 GT offers versatility with both BEV and PHEV variants. The BEV, available in RWD and AWD, provides exceptional range options with two battery capacities: 102.33 kWh and 122.496 kWh. This translates to five CLTC range options, ranging from 820 km to a whopping 1,036 km. And the power doesn't stop there! The RWD boasts a 370 kW (496 hp) electric motor, while the AWD delivers a combined power output of 850 kW (1,140 hp), an increase of 140 kW.
But the surprises don't end with the BEV. The PHEV variant features a substantially larger 63.82 kWh battery pack, almost double the current model's capacity, offering a pure electric range of 400 km. Its powertrain includes a 2.0T engine and three electric motors, delivering a combined power output of 640 kW (858 hp).
The Denza Z9 GT's dimensions remain consistent, providing ample space. Inside, the cockpit impresses with a 17.3-inch central screen and dual 13.2-inch 2.5K screens, all powered by a 4nm DiLink smart cockpit chip. This setup enables ten-screen linkage and voice recognition, enhancing the driving experience.
Furthermore, the Denza Z9 GT comes equipped with BYD's advanced DiPilot 300 'God's Eye' B 5.0 system for cutting-edge driving assistance.
BYD's latest offering raises the bar for EV range and performance. But is it a case of too much power, or just right? What do you think about BYD's strategy with the Denza Z9 lineup? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
