A significant chapter closes in the world of golf broadcasting as Cara Banks, a familiar face for nearly a decade, bids farewell to the Golf Channel studio. After almost 11 years of gracing our screens, she's making a full-time transition to NBC Sports.
Banks, an English broadcaster, first joined Golf Channel back in 2015, stepping into the role of co-host for Morning Drive, previously held by Holly Sonders. She quickly became a cornerstone of Golf Central and the network's flagship Golf Central Live From broadcasts, especially during major championships.
"End of an era!" Banks shared on social media, marking her final show on Golf Channel. She excitedly announced her move to NBC Sports, where she'll be a key part of their weekend golf coverage, alongside Premier League soccer, the Stifel Snow Show, and the Olympics.
This shift coincides with a major change within the sports broadcasting landscape. Golf Channel is preparing to separate from NBC Sports under Comcast's new venture, Versant, expected to launch by early 2026. This means Golf Channel will become independent of NBCUniversal, while NBC Sports remains with the parent company. Banks' move to NBC Sports is happening ahead of this formal split.
This is a big loss for Golf Channel, as Banks has been one of its most recognizable voices, particularly as the face of Golf Central Live From coverage for the past six years. Now, she'll be focusing on weekend golf interviews and expanding her presence across NBC's diverse sports programming. Meanwhile, Golf Channel is left with the task of finding her replacement in the studio.
