The Los Angeles Chargers have officially expressed interest in interviewing Aubrey Pleasant, the Rams' assistant head coach and defensive pass game coordinator, for their vacant defensive coordinator position. This news was reported by Ian Rapoport, a well-known insider in the NFL community.
At just 38 years old, Pleasant's coaching journey began in 2012 when he took on the role of assistant defensive backs coach at the University of Michigan. His career has seen him work with notable teams such as the Cleveland Browns and Washington before he joined the Los Angeles Rams in 2017.
Pleasant has demonstrated versatility by coaching various positions on both sides of the ball but found his niche as the cornerbacks coach with the Rams. His expertise led him to a position with the Detroit Lions in 2021, where he served as the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator.
After a brief stint as a consultant with the Green Bay Packers towards the end of the 2022 season, Pleasant returned to the Rams in an elevated role, being named assistant head coach last offseason.
