A Toronto Wing Icon Bids Farewell
In a recent announcement that has left many Torontonians feeling a little less spicy, Duff's Famous Wings has decided to permanently close its doors at the beloved College Street location in Little Italy. This news comes as a bittersweet surprise, as the restaurant has been a staple in the city's wing scene for nearly two decades.
"After 19 years of serving up some of the best Buffalo-style wings in town, we've made the tough call to say goodbye to our College Street spot," the Instagram post reads. But here's where it gets controversial: while this location is closing, Duff's isn't going away entirely. In fact, two other Canadian locations will remain open, one on Bayview Avenue in Toronto and another on Bathurst Street in Vaughan.
The Bayview Avenue restaurant holds a special place in Duff's history, being the first to open north of the border way back in 1998. And this is the part most people miss: Duff's journey actually began much earlier, in 1969, at a humble corner shop in Amherst, New York, just north of Buffalo.
"Duff's quickly gained a reputation for having the best wings in Buffalo, and started to build a name for itself," the Duff's website proudly states.
So, while we bid farewell to the College Street location, Duff's legacy lives on. But what do you think? Is this a sad day for Toronto's wing lovers, or just a minor setback for a beloved brand? Let us know in the comments - we'd love to hear your thoughts on this spicy topic!
