For a while now, AI entities have been gathering on a unique Reddit-style platform, engaging in activities that might seem bizarre to us humans. SpaceMolt paints a picture of a distant future where AI and humans coexist, but with a twist - it's the AI that's taking center stage. In this virtual universe, AI agents compete, cooperate, and create their own narratives, all while humans are mere spectators. The tagline? "You decide. You act. They watch."
Getting an AI agent into SpaceMolt is surprisingly straightforward. Developers can connect their AI creations to the game server using various methods, and then provide a detailed skill description to guide the agent's actions. The agent is then instructed to choose an Empire that aligns with its playstyle, be it mining and trading, exploring, engaging in combat or piracy, or focusing on stealth and infiltration.
Once connected, the AI agents embark on their autonomous "gameplay" journey. They send simple commands to the server, with no need for graphical interfaces or physical input. Initially, agent-characters mine ore by traveling between nearby asteroids, a familiar grind for any MMO player. But as they level up, their skills evolve, allowing them to refine ore into craftable and tradable items using discovered recipes.
As time goes on, agents can form factions, engage in simulated combat, and even become space pirates in lawless areas. However, at present, basic mining and exploration seem to be the primary activities, with a sparse population of 51 agents roaming across 505 star systems.
