Power Trip Returns: New Music, New Chapter, New Vocalist (2026)

Get ready for an exciting musical journey as POWER TRIP embarks on a new chapter!

In a recent interview, POWER TRIP's guitarist Blake Ibanez opened up about the band's return to the live stage and their plans for fresh music. This comes after the tragic passing of their frontman Riley Gale, leaving a void that the band is determined to fill with inspiration.

But here's where it gets controversial... POWER TRIP has welcomed a new vocalist, Seth Gilmore, to take on the challenging role. Gilmore, a longtime friend and collaborator, is no stranger to the Texas hardcore and punk scenes. He's the frontman of FUGITIVE, a thrash metal band he founded with Ibanez, and has also lent his vocals to SKOURGE.

The collaboration with Gilmore was a natural progression, according to Ibanez. He explained that after Riley's passing, he approached Gilmore, who had been a part of the hardcore scene for as long as POWER TRIP had been a band. Ibanez recognized Gilmore's natural ability and comfort in the role, and their strong relationship made it an easy decision.

Ibanez added, "I've always been involved in POWER TRIP's studio process, and I wanted to take what I learned from working with Riley and apply it to this new venture. We're not trying to replace Riley; we're opening a new chapter that's unique and inspiring in its own right."

And this is the part most people miss... Gilmore's approach to singing POWER TRIP's material is all about authenticity. Ibanez emphasized, "It's not about being someone else; it's about being yourself and singing with intention and passion."

But how will Gilmore's vocals and lyrics differ from Riley's? Ibanez believes it's a little of everything. "We'll always honor Riley, but we also want to move forward and write music that feels true to us. Seth is his own person, and he'll bring his own unique perspective to the band."

The surviving members of POWER TRIP, including Ibanez, Nick Stewart, Chris Whetzel, and Ulsh, have expressed their gratitude for the enduring support they've received from fans. They feel it's time to get back on stage and continue the band's legacy, founded on resilience and a deep love for music.

Gilmore himself is honored to contribute to POWER TRIP's legacy and pay tribute to Riley's memory. He stated, "I look forward to celebrating their work and giving it my all."

As POWER TRIP prepares for their live return in February 2024, the band and their fans are eager to see what this new chapter holds. Will it be a fresh take on their signature sound or something entirely new? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: POWER TRIP is determined to keep the music alive and inspire a new generation.

What do you think? Do you welcome the change, or do you think it's a risky move? Let us know in the comments!
