On January 30th, my team and I embarked on a mission to secure one of the hottest gadgets on the market. It wasn't your typical online shopping spree; we were after something truly unique - the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold. With its global launch already creating a buzz and reports of instant sell-outs, we knew getting our hands on one in the US would be a challenge, especially with its eye-watering price tag of $2,900.
The scarcity of these devices was so extreme that Samsung didn't even provide review units to CNET or other journalists, a stark contrast to their usual practice. So, we found ourselves online shopping before sunrise, eager to be among the first to experience this innovative phone.
As the clock struck 7 a.m. Pacific Time, the race began. Four of my teammates and I navigated the online process, each hoping to be the lucky one. And amidst the chaos, I emerged victorious, adding the Galaxy Z TriFold to my cart and completing the transaction for a grand total of $3,164.05 (including taxes and a California Battery Recycling Fee). It was a game of chance, and luck was on my side.
